A local Simultaneous Policy Adopters' Group (SPAG) is group of Adopters based in a geographical area, such as a town, suburb, city or a Parliamentary constituency, and has three main aims:
![]()
To raise awareness
of SP and encourage others to become adopters,
To hold policy fora to discuss possible policies for inclusion is SP,
To encourage candidates at national and European Parliament elections to sign
the candidates pledge.
If there is not already a SPAG in your city, town or parish, then you might like to help to set one up, click here to check. If there is already a group you may want to form another group more directly linked to your Parliamentary constituency - many larger cities have more than one constituency.
If you are interested in setting up a SPAG, you can count on the assistance of Simpol-UK's Local Groups Network Coordinator groups@simpol.org.uk. They will be able to:
Contact local SP adopters to arrange an inaugural meeting,
Supply information materials and other resources,
Provide fundraising support,
Help with booking speakers,
Train your group on communicating with the media, lobbying candidates etc.
See the Simpol-UK Campaign Pack to help you get started

Local SP Adopters' Groups (SPAGs) are at various
stages of development around the UK. A little local campaigning activity puts
SP on the map and helps to spread the word. The first two groups to form (Cambridge
and Penzance) have already received support from local MPs signing the pledge
to implement SP alongside other governments, are holding policy meetings and
signing up Adopters.
The Simpol-UK Campaign Action Pack can be downloaded free of charge and has lots of useful information and resources. You can also order a campaign film and other resources. Local Group Network Coordinator Mike Brady will be delighted to help with advice or materials.
