Local Groups

Simpol where you live If you want to get involved promoting Simpol in your area, or just have a cuppa with local supporters, then a Local Simpol Group could be the way forward. Local Groups can get all sorts of support from Simpol-UK. Local Group supporters encourage others to join the campaign and so put increasing electoral pressure on their MP to sign the Simpol Pledge. Campaigning comes in all shapes and sizes such as holding street stalls, Global Co-operation Street Parties and fundraising events. Local Groups hold open monthly meetings to discuss and how global problems affect them locally, global policy ideas, meeting with their MP to get them signed up and encouraging other NGO campaign groups to work alongside Simpol. If there isn’t already a Simpol Group in your city, town or parish, then you might like to get one going. See below for a list of groups.

• Help you contact local supporters to arrange your first meeting,
• Supply information materials and other resources,
• Provide fundraising support,
• Help you with booking speakers,
• Help train your group on talking to the local media, lobbying MPs and candidates, etc.
